Why I am interested in BrainStation

BrainStation’s model of practitioner-led digital skills education strongly aligns with my work as an applied technology educator, AI learning designer, and adult-learning facilitator. I am interested in part-time instructor or workshop facilitator opportunities in Applied AI, AI tools for professionals, data/business analytics, and digital-skills training.

My value as an instructor is not only technical knowledge. It is the ability to help adult learners build the mental models required to transfer AI, data, and digital tools into real workplace practice.

Core instructor thesis: BrainStation students do not only need tool instruction. They need practice transfer: the ability to recognize a business problem, select the right digital method, explain their reasoning, and produce useful work.

Teaching philosophy: practice transfer and metacognition

My teaching approach is built around practice transfer. I do not simply explain how a tool works; I place learners inside realistic business scenarios where they must identify the problem, connect the relevant concepts, choose the right tool, and explain their reasoning.

Education comes from the idea of drawing out capability. The goal is not to overload learners with definitions. The goal is to create the conditions where they recognize what is missing, connect patterns, and bring forth their own reasoning.

What learners practice

  • Recognizing the business problem behind the tool request
  • Selecting the right AI, data, or digital method
  • Connecting ideas across business, technology, and communication
  • Explaining technical choices in practical language
  • Turning outputs into workplace-ready artifacts

How I facilitate

  • Scenario-based workshops
  • Guided practice and live demonstrations
  • Capstone-style project work
  • Reflection, feedback, and iteration
  • Career-ready project storytelling

What I can teach

I am best positioned for learning experiences that combine AI adoption, business technology, data interpretation, and adult professional development.

Applied AI Generative AI Prompt Engineering AI Workflow Design Data Analytics Foundations Dashboard Thinking Power BI Concepts SQL / Database Concepts Business Analytics Data Storytelling Career Readiness Capstone Mentorship

Applied AI for professionals

Helping adult learners use AI tools as practical work partners: research support, drafting, analysis, synthesis, workflow design, project ideation, and business communication.

Data and business analytics

Helping learners move from raw data toward insight: data inspection, reporting logic, dashboard thinking, KPI interpretation, and business storytelling.

Digital skills and workplace capability

Translating technical tools into professional execution: documentation, presentations, project artifacts, GitHub/portfolio materials, and workplace-ready explanations.

Capstone and project mentorship

Supporting learners as they scope projects, build artifacts, explain decisions, refine outputs, and present work in ways that make sense to employers or stakeholders.

Selected learning artifacts

These samples demonstrate my approach to practical, structured, adult-learning design. They are intended to show how I help learners move from tool exposure into applied work.

Power BI Lesson Sample

A practical data/reporting lab that introduces learners to CSV import, inspection, exploratory visuals, and business interpretation.

Instructor value proposition

I help adult professionals move beyond tool exposure into practice transfer: recognizing a business problem, selecting the right digital method, explaining their reasoning, and producing useful work.

My background combines Ontario college teaching, IBM enterprise IT experience, applied AI instruction, curriculum design, business technology, data/reporting tools, and adult learner facilitation. I am comfortable teaching learners who are intelligent and motivated but not yet confident with technical tools.

My strongest contribution is helping learners develop practical metacognition: the ability to recognize patterns, connect ideas across domains, and apply new tools to unfamiliar workplace situations.

Possible BrainStation micro-lessons

These are examples of short teaching demonstrations I would be prepared to deliver in an instructor interview or workshop context.

From AI Awareness to AI Workflow

How professionals can turn generative AI from a novelty into a repeatable business process for research, drafting, analysis, and decision support.

What Makes a Dashboard Useful?

A plain-language lesson on turning data into decisions through audience focus, KPI selection, visual hierarchy, and business interpretation.

SQL as a Question-Asking Tool

A beginner-friendly explanation of SQL as a way to ask structured business questions of data, not merely as syntax to memorize.

Prompt Engineering as Thinking Design

A practical introduction to prompts as structured thinking: role, context, task, constraints, examples, and output format.
